THE PRESIDENT’S MISPLACED ANGERS

Our president, Donald Trump, is a very angry man.

He’s angry at NFL players who won’t stand for the national anthem. He’s angry at the Mayor of San Juan for not taking responsibility for the destruction of his city. He’s angry at his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, for talking to the North Koreans.

“Save your energy, Rex,” said the president.

Yes, Donald Trump is a very angry man.

Angry, that is, until it comes to the horror in Las Vegas where 59 concert goers were killed and another 527 wounded. Here, Trump offers his “thoughts and prayers.”

Here’s My Take: I’m not sure “thoughts and prayers” provide the comfort needed by those who lost loved ones in Las Vegas.

Now’s the time for anger, Mr. President, anger at those who promote the sale of semi-automatic weapons as a God given right, for example.

The deadliest mass shooting in recent American history is on your watch. I would be angry – very, very angry, Mr. President.

Everyone should read the 2016 research journalism of Mother Jones magazine about the manufacturers. They are mostly private companies and overwhelmingly motivated by unfettered greed but two are public and might be susceptible to a divestiture campaign. They are Smith and Wesson and Sturm Ruger.
In the meantime we care and we need new political leadership.
