Welcome to Roger’s Take on Religion: An Inclusive Perspective
Just when you think it’s already weird it gets even weirder.
Tennessee state senators recently approved a motion making the Barrett .50 caliber weapone the state’s “official rifle.” The gun is so powerful that it can kill a deer from 1800 ft. or shoot down a commercial airliner.
In Kentucky, a rebuilding of Noah’s Ark using exact biblical dimensions will receive $18 million in tax incentives. The owners, however, want employees to sign an oath affirming creationism.
It appears that politicians are feeding constituents a lean diet of guns and religion while they fatten themselves at the public trough.
Here’s My Take: In contrast, Donald “I Give People Jobs” Trump and Bernie “$15 an Hour” Sanders offer a prophetic voice. Both in their own way are seeking a larger share of the pie in the form of decent jobs and salaries for those ignored by self-serving leaders.
In Jesus’ Parable of the Great Banquet, only the poor and the powerless are seated at the table. (Luke 14:15-23)
You don’t have to like the messengers to heed the message.
